Intercut between scenes. Jane catches a coach. Grace, watching Jane from the window doesn't see Bertha grab a lit log from the fireplace. Mr. Rochester, on horseback gallops after Jane, but is forced to turn back when servants shout the house is on fire. Bertha shoves Leah off the third floor landing, causing her to fall to her death. Despite Mr. Rochester trying to save her, Bertha jumps to her death too. Mr. Rochester is injured when a burning wall falls on him.
