Calvin is strapped to a heavy-duty operating chair and his wrists are held by large metal clasps. One of the officers holds a black ball with LED lights up to Calvin's head. It zaps a light at Calvin, knocking him unconscious. Meanwhile, Meg and Charles Wallace walk through the tunnels wearing long grey coats to disguise themselves. They open a door to find a kid bouncing a basketball just before he too gets zapped by the black ball.
