Mrs. Whatsit leads Meg and Calvin into the cave. Stalactites and stalagmites abound as the light flickers off the water inside. Mrs. Whatsit gets into a small boat or canoe, joined by Calvin and Meg who paddle with old some wooden branches. Together the three of them go deeper into the cave. More lights start to flicker underneath the surface of the water - 'glowworms' that feed off laughter. Meg reaches out and touches some of the glowworms with her hand.
