A campfire burns. Mrs. Which tosses a green apple into the air and it turns into a small galaxy that floats overhead. Small planets and stars orbit in the small solar system. The children gaze on in wonder. Mrs. Which focuses on Mars, then Planet Earth, which appears to be caught in the grip of a dark, ominous hand. They all discuss the warriors for good - Michelangelo, Madam Curie, Jane Austen, Mother Teresa, Dr. Martin Luther King, Einstein, Shakespeare, Ghandi, Bach, St. Francis of Assisi. The miniature solar system returns to its original apple form and drops into Charles Wallace's hand. He takes a bite. At Mrs. Which's behest, Mrs. Whatsit leads Meg and Calvin to a nearby cave.
