Three floating balls of glowing white light appear in what seems to be outer space. Meg, Charles Wallace and Calvin stare up in awe at the beautiful world they've found themselves in. It's a bright, beautiful day in an area with lots of beautiful flowers, whose colorful petals flurry through the air and wash over the children. Mrs. Whatsit leads them to the nearby trees, where the floating glasses reappear, followed by the rest of Mrs. Who. Mrs. Whatsit introduces Mrs. Who and then reassures Meg that her feelings of fear and anger are good.
