Meg walks downstairs in her pajamas. Framed family photos line the staircase. She sees her twin brothers asleep in their bunk bed and her mother tossing and turning while sleeping in her bed. Meg looks for Charles Wallace in his own room, but he's not there. She stops at a framed photo of her father and touches it lovingly. She is greeted by the family dog and Charles Wallace as she enters the kitchen, where Charles Wallace is making a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. Charles Wallace offers half of his sandwich to Meg, who accepts. Their mother joins them. Cocoa is warming in a pot on the stove. Meg grabs a mug from the counter and uses a ladle to pour some cocoa. Dana does the same. Charles Wallace pretends to make a magic sandwich for his mom, but then hands her some of his. Charles Wallace has placed four plates on the kitchen table, where the three of them sit down to enjoy their cocoa and sandwiches. They talk for a moment before there's a loud clap of thunder outside, which startles the dog. The three of them continue their conversation and Meg's mother gets up to hug and kiss Meg.
