Sunlight streams through the trees as Meg and Charles Wallace walk together on a path through the woods. A few other kids with backpacks come up and start bullying them both. One of them says something about their father, which leads Meg to fight. She pushes and shove one of them to the ground. He gets up and knocks her over in turn. Meanwhile, teenage Calvin (wearing a helmet) is riding a mountain bike nearby and sees what's happening. He comes to Meg and Charles Wallace's aid and tells the other boys to scram. They leave. Calvin helps Meg to her feet. Meg gathers her things and before leaving with her brother. Charles Wallace looks back at Calvin, smiles and waves sweetly, thanking him for his help. Calvin waves back.
