As Caliburn makes a sword for Arthur, he tells Merlin of his past. While putting the finishing touches on the sword, Caliburn deems the sword special. Caliburn wants to know how it feels like when Merlin does magic; he comes to realize that Merlin no longer practices magic because he fears the effect it has on him. Merlin walks away from the smithing hut. He crouches by a tree and uses his power to make a small campfire become a raging infeno. He looks up to find Excalibur watching. The fire instantly dies and Merlin puts a knife to the girl's throat, asking what she saw. Caliburn pulls a sword on Merlin, telling him to leave his daughter alone. Merlin puts his knife away, he didn't realize Caliburn had a daughter. Caliburn invite him to spend the night ans dine with them.
