Ender narrates about the alien Formics invading Earth 50 years earlier. Fighter planes fight alien spaceships. One plane crashes into the mothership, blowing it up. The narration continues, explaining how children were trained using video games to prevent another invasion. At school, Ender and Stilson play video games on tablets, while Graff and Gwen monitor on a video screen. Graff says Ender is "the one". Ender defeats Stilson, who angrily challenges him to a rematch. Ender turns him down. Graff and Gwen discuss Ender's strategy. Graff wants to see how Ender handles rejection, and Ender is called to the infirmary. An implant is seen on the back of Ender's neck.
