Carmen rushes to Kit to tell him about Barnaby's suicide. Kit rambles about needing to call someone. He confesses the truth. A flashback shows Kit responded to a casting call held by Barnaby, pretending to be Ford, and introduces him to his future friends, Barnaby's assistants. Barnaby proposes "reality cinema" to create a love triangle for a soon to be bride. Barnaby was secretly filming Carmen. Desperate for money, Kit accepts the "acting job." Kit tells Carmen he tried to stop it and his feelings were not an act.
