Agnes and Leon say goodbye to Mark and Marty, their father hangs back. On the road, Mark lobs a firecrack at D.C. who's parked at a local hangout. As they leave Arkansas, Mark reads aloud from a an eye witness account about a bear attack. Scared, Marshall pops from the back. The brothers call Agnes; Marshall begs their mom to let him stay with his brothers. She puts Marty in charge of him ; in 2 weeks they can send him home on the bus. That night the brothers camp in the Ozarks.
