Masha tells Herman that her mother died; she has no money for a funeral. Masha proposes that she and Herman commit suicide together; Herman agrees. But before they die, he was to know if Masha was faithfully to him since they have been together. She says ok, but he has to answer the same question. Herman confesses to sleeping with Tamara, Masha confesses to sleeping with her estranged husband. Herman gets angry, previously she swore on the life of unborn child that she had not. In the end Herman leaves and Masha commits suicide.
