Back at the gas station, Jerry closes for the night. He makes himself fish and reviews the little girl's drawings, comparing the artifact. A car pulls up to the gas station and someone knocks desperately on his door--even though he says he's closed. It's Lori. She's crying; hysterical. She says her ex showed up and beat her up. Jerry cleans her up. He tells her she should stay with him for awhile. The next day, she moves in. Then they have a campfire together at a creek. Another day, Lori's daughter builds a snowman while Jerry works in the gas station, watching her from the window. Gary shows up and starts talking to her. Jerry doesn't see him at first -- but when he does, he grabs a baseball bat. Gary doesn't see him and leaves before Jerry gets outside.
