Jerry drives through mountain roads at night. He goes over a bridge into Monash County to go to the police station there to review the files from a similar case. He asks for a copy of the report. Then Jerry goes to an institution looking for a man named James Olstead, the custodian, whose little girl went missing. Olstead chain smokes and cries with the memories.
