Leander arrives to find that the bandits are taunting the Rangers from the Mexican side of the Rio Grande. Lincoln tried to talk them into a trade of Richard for Perdita, to no avail. They kill Richard in plain view of the Rangers. Leander cocks his gun at Perdita, but Lincoln steps in the way. Lincoln says that the Rangers would be just as bad as the bandits if they were to kill Perdita without a trial. Leander makes Lincoln move...and aims at Perdita again. After a couple of tense seconds, he pardons her, but kicks her out of Texas. Perdita swims the Rio Grande over to the Mexican side.
