The audience is still cheering when suddenly Tilney bursts in. He's going to arrest everyone. He accuses them of having a woman actor. Queen Elizabeth speaks up and makes her way on stage. She summons Thomas to the front and, though she recognizes Viola, declares that the illusion of Thomas being a woman is wonderful. The Queen also summons Wessex and bids him to play Will fifty pounds per the wager. The play has captured the nature of true love. The Queen admonishes Will to next time come as himself to her parties. Wessex corners the Queen outside as she's leaving and asks about his future. The Queen says that Viola will say her goodbyes to the theater and that his marriage will stand.
