Dap carries the unconscious Ender back to his quarters and lays him on his bed. Ender's troops gather at the doorway. Petra asks to stay with him, and Graff agrees. Petra sits on Ender's bed and holds his hand. Ender dreams about the video game he played with the alien transforming into his sister. Ender suddenly wakes up and runs off, calling for Valentine. Petra chases after him. Ender runs out of the base, towards the alien structure he looked at before, but runs out of breath. Petra catches up to him with oxygen packs. Ender tells Petra that the Formics were trying to communicate with him through his thoughts. Ender walks on alone towards the structure, then goes inside, narrating in a letter to his sister that he must find a way to make amends with the Formics.
