Drake watches the cafeteria on video monitors, focusing on Ray, and alerts Hobbes. Ray tells Rottmayer that the device he is building is a sextant. Hobbes orders Ray to be brought to him. Guards hit Ray and drag him away. Hobbes meets with Ray in a cell, reveling that he knows who he really is, and that he used his work to design the prison. Hobbes tells Ray that people paid for him to stay in the prison. Hobbes tells Ray that he's been moved to a new section where he'll be confined to his cell. Ray threatens Hobbes, then tells him that he can get information on Mannheim from Rottmayer. Hobbes agrees to let Ray go if he does.
