Kilgore walks by a waterfall, talking to himself. In a motel room, Dwayne and Francine undress and embrace on the bed. They watch The Monty Rapid Show on TV. Monty interviews Fred, who smokes a cigarette in a holder. Dwayne and Francine have sex and Francine says she loves Dwayne. Fred and Monty repeat the name "Kilgore Trout", which distracts Dwayne. Dwayne imagines seeing his wife in the room. Dwayne yells at Francine for asking for a gift, while his marching band-themed commercial plays on TV. Francine insists she was asking for the gift for Dwayne and Dwayne mocks her. Francine accuses Dwayne of changing. Dwayne apologizes to Francine and says he's confused. Dwayne and Francine cuddle and talk on the bed. Dwayne asks what the meaning of life is and Francine says "only God knows". Dwayne tells a story about visiting a research facility where cars are tested. Francine suggests that Dwayne needs to talk to someone and recommends he go to the arts festival.
