In his office, Dwayne opens the gift Francine gave him, a toy car. He uses a letter opener to open an envelope and reads a letter about a development site he owns being under investigation for toxic soil. Kilgore hitchhikes and Gilbert, a truck driver hauling a Big Boy statue, stops to pick him up. They talk while driving. While stopped at a cliffside gas station, Kilgore calls mirrors "leaks" and says they are holes between universes. A gas station attendant cleans the truck's mirror and Kilgore stares into it, seeing another vision of a tropical island.
