Rachael gives Adam a retired racing greyhound dog to help him cope. At a restaurant, Kyle throws a cancer party for Adam. Kyle tries to chat up a secretary abusing her sympathy for Adam. Adam awkwardly interacts with well meaning party guests. Rachael drops Adam off at his chemotherapy appointment in her 2006 Toyota Prius II, but won't go in with him. Adam waits alone, until an orderly comes for him.
