Chester arrives home with roses for his fiancee Bess. Matthew, her teenage son blows Chester off. Chester tells Bess about the meeting he's having with his boss; he's sure he's going to get a raise. Chester promises Bess that he'll wine and dine her when the raise comes through. He claims that he and Matthew are getting along better than before.
