Craven drives into work. Meanwhile, his coworkers at the police station watch a news report on Emma's death. Craven gives Detective Jones Emma's phone so he can trace her friends. Craven meets with the Chief of Police who tells him that Whitehouse is running the investigation into Emma's death. Craven refuses to take a leave of absence. He talks Chief and Whitehouse into letting him work on the case; since the intended target was him, he would know who might be after him.
