The team drills into the ice around the alien to get a tissue sample. In a base rec room that night, they celebrate. Meanwhile, the alien starts to thaw. Derek goes to the bathroom and hears something -- the dog is crying. He goes to check it out and ends up looking in the storage area where the alien is. Derek runs his hand over the thawing ice. One of the Norwegians comes up behind him and yells 'boo' and then the alien jumps out of the ice. Derek barely gets away. He runs down the hallway to the celebration to tell them the thing got out of the ice.
