Sarajevo, 1992. In a beauty salon, women get their hair done and the power goes out. A woman restarts the generator and the women applaud. In a church, altar boys light candles. A family gets dressed up in fancy clothes and walks down the street. The mother is shot and killed by a sniper. Photographers take pictures of the mother's body. Flynn helps a priest carry the body into the church, while Michael and his cameraman Gregg run away from the scene.
