That night a masked lynch mob comes looking for Billy the Kid. The Sheriff tells them that Billy escaped, but he has Chavez and Doc. He turns Doc and Chavez over to the mob. Doc tries to talk his way out of the situation, but just gets mocked. The men pull off their mask exposing that it's Billy, Pat, etc. come to rescue them. The real lynch mob shows up. Billy spooks some horses which causes chaos, fights and starts a fire.
