Darwin walks from his study through the house. He dumps hot water on himself and sits by the fire. He imagines Annie talking to him again. She tells him she knows he thinks he's going to go to hell and that's why he won't talk to Emma. He gets angry and stands up, walks away, goes into his study but she appears in there too. Annie accuses him of thinking her death is his fault. Darwin starts screaming. Emma comes into the room to find him like that.
