General Montcalm meets with Magua, who is angry that Montcalm has allowed Munro to surrender. He says English soldiers attacked his village and killed his children. A Mohawk took him as a slave and his wife, believing he was dead, married another. Magua blames Munro for this so he wants to kill him. They work out an arrangement: Montcalm will let everyone in the fort go so Magua can attack and kill them after they march away. The next day, the British and militia leave the fort and march away. Hawkeye, in chains, is led out. Cora looks for him in the crowd.
