Cora and Duncan reconnect and have lunch outside together. Cora turns down Duncan's marriage proposal; he asks her to reconsider and she says she'll think about it. Alice arrives, excited to see "The Red Men". They all go hiking through the woods, escorted by the British soldiers and Magua. This is intercut with Hawkeye, Chingachgook and Uncas tracking through the woods. Magua hits a soldier in the head with an axe and leads the soldiers into a trap. The Indians attack. Cora and Alice cower from the assault and Duncan defends them. Right when it seems like they'll all be killed, Hawkeye and company arrive on the scene, killing the attacking Indians. Hawkeye takes aim at Magua and tries to kill him. Chingachgook throws an axe at a guy and kills him.
