Inside the alien structure, Ender finds a pod and enters it. Inside, Ender finds alien eggs and comes face to face with one of the Formic aliens. The alien touches Ender's neck and face with its claw and looks at him. Ender cries when he realizes the alien is dying. Ender promises the alien that he'll find a new home for the species. In Ender's room at home, Valentine plays with a mobile of an alien spaceship. Ender narrates that he was promoted to admiral and wants to find out if he's as good at peace as he is at war, intending to keep his promise. Ender takes a rocket, and sleeps in suspended animation, then opens his eyes.
