In the cafeteria, Bean, Alai, and other kids sit with Ender, leaving Bernard alone. Later in the bunks, Ender learns about the Formic aliens on a tablet, then plays a video game where a giant challenges a mouse to drink from two glasses, one poison. Gwen and Graff watch Ender playing the game on a video screen. Gwen tells Graff that she authorized Ender's access to the game to test his state of mind and how he deals with frustration. Graff says he wants Ender to toughen up. Ender quickly realizes that the game is rigged so he dies either way. Alai watches Ender play. In the game, Ender has the mouse attack the giant. Ender says the leaders want them to choose violence, not follow the rules.
