Maria and Lucas wade through tall brush, past drowned animals. Lucas notices his mom's breast is exposed and also that her leg is injured; he can't look. Maria adjusts herself. They walk on. Maria ties up her injuries to stop the bleeding, but coughs up blood. They want to get to safety, but hear a kid crying for help. Lucas finds a little boy Daniel hidden under brush. Daniel finds a can of soda which he puts in his pocket. The three seek shelter by climbing a tree.
