All prisoners line up for formation. Japanese soldiers are armed with weapons. Capt Yonoi and Sgt Hara arrive. Capt Yonoi orders even the prisoners from the hospital to formation. Yonoi is about to execute Hicksley when Celliers steps in and kisses Yonoi on the cheek. Yonoi becomes so upset he almost passes out. Celliers is beaten by the other soldiers.
