The funeral for Billy Costigan is held. This is intercut with Colin giving the police a false story. Madelyn is at the funeral and Colin asks her about the baby. He goes home and Dignam is waiting for him. Dignam shoots Colin. Then camera pans up and a rat runs along a porch railing.
