Laura goes to the store and buys cigarettes. She talks to the cashier again about Jenny. She calls NYU where Jenny is supposed to be in school, but they have no record of her. So she begins reading Jenny's diary. At night, by herself, Laura walks through the house carrying the knife because she's scared and hears noises. Outside, she spots people. They break in the house so she runs upstairs, calls the police and barricades herself in.
